Of all the fancy chain hotels in Vilnius, the Ramada boasts the best bang for your buck. It's in an ideal location near the Gates of Dawn; rooms have DVD players, 20" flat-screen TVs (even bigger in the suites!), free broadband, kettles and impressive silver-tinted digital clocks.

It's sparkly clean, service is stellar, soundproofing is water-tight, and street-side rooms have views of the Philharmonic. The reason it's priced much lower than its competitors is because the rooms are on the small side. But who needs size when you're glued to the flatscreen? Frustratingly, the bathrooms are, proportionally, no bigger than the rooms. Discounting the strange aquatic-themed art, the hotel exudes a 19th-century vibe, with a cream colour scheme and elegant curtains and awnings. If you don't like the way the hotel looks from the outside, chances are the inside won't tickle your fancy either. The classy in-house Italian restaurant has a wonderful patio in a cosy cobbled courtyard. Note that there's no parking, so you're stuck paying larcenous rates at a public lot or taking your chances at the free lot on Maironio gatve.
