For an alternative experience to the places in town, make for Ratanakiri's only ecolodge. Set amid lush forest about 6km east of town, the wooden bungalows are thoughtfully decorated with ethnic minority handicrafts. There is no power during the day, but the fan and lights work through the night. There is an atmospheric restaurant serving Thai and Khmer food.
