If the shelter inside the park is full, high country visitors can try this pousada/camping ground at 2400m, just below the park's upper entrance station. The hotel has a bar and limited food, but it's highly advisable to bring extra supplies (especially chocolate, snacks and warm clothes). Alsene is colder and bleaker than your average Brazilian pousada and it's a long, bumpy drive out. Book in advance and let them know if you need a ride in (for a fee).
