A top choice if you're after romantic beach walks and sunset views, the Aro'a Beach has one of the best locations on the island's west coast. The units are all fairly similar inside, with large high-ceiling bedrooms decked out with glossy wood-panelling and colourful bedspreads, leading off to a small kitchen, sitting area and a private verandah.

Unsurprisingly the best views are from the 'honeymoon suites' in the two-storey lodges right beside the beach; according to the owners, some guests have complained that the sea is 'too noisy' (which gives you some idea of just how near the sand these units are). If your budget is a little tighter, the three single-storey garden bungalows are much more affordable and still only a stone's throw from the sand. The interior decor is almost exactly the same as the pricier lodges nearer the beach. The onsite Shipwreck Hut Bar (otherwise known as the 'stress management office') is an added treat; decorated with reclaimed signs, tattered photographs and fishing paraphernalia, it's the very picture of a ramshackle South Seas bar and makes a fantastic place to drink in the island's glorious sunset views.
