Address: Po box 379, rarotonga, Muri beach , Rarotonga , Cook islands
There's a homely, almost villagey feel to this place, which offers a choice of one-bedroom seaview units, plus a couple of larger garden bungalows, and three luxury villas overlooking a tranquil lily pond. The style of the units is modern and contemporary - think tiled roofs, glass doors and solar panels rather than pandanus thatching.Almost uniquely for Rarotonga, it's actually the garden villas that are the more expensive at Muri Beachcomber. They're tangibly more luxurious than the bungalows nearer the beach, with spacious stone-floored lounge-diners, huge 30-foot verandahs overlooking the enclosed watergarden, and individual barbecues for your very own private alfresco feast. The seaview units are scattered liberally across a broad expanse of emerald-green grass, shaded by coconut trees, but somehow they lack the pizazz of the more luxurious garden villas - still, they're good value, and you really couldn't ask to get much closer to the lagoon. There's a great freshwater swimming pool onsite, as well as a petanque court and even a 'folly' (unsurprisingly a popular spot for weddings) - but perhaps the main attraction is the lovely garden setting itself, with bright flowers, tropical foliage and little ponds.

Take a stroll around the gardens and appreciate some of the island's unforgettably fragrant flowers (from gardenia to frangipani) - if you've got a green thumb, make a beeline for Maire Nui Gardens nearby, where you'll find the finest landscaped ornamental grounds in the Cook Islands.
