Lonely Planet review

One of Sydney's best-kept sleeping secrets, and with good reason - you wouldn't want anyone to gazump your reservation, would you? It's a prominent building (a refurbished 1850s bank, in fact), but manages to foster a boutique bolthole vibe and a real sense of privacy and discretion. And it's smack bang in the city centre. The understated rooms here have clean lines, white-caramel-grey colour schemes and all the high-tech gadgetry you could hope for. The suites and apartment also have kitchenettes. We liked the ritzy loft suites, which feature two TVs and can sleep up to four people; and the hip deluxe rooms. But we were most impressed by the two-bedroom apartment, which (pardon the cliché) really is a home away from home. On the premises you'll find the swanky bar Privilege and an upmarket eatery called Level Three, which are both popular with the after-work brigade. Blacket has been owned by the same folk since it started, which gives it a reassuring sense of stability and professionalism.
