Let's be frank: this is a Best Western hotel in a strip mall in the Boston suburbs. Nothing more, nothing less. But it does have something going for it: the fact that it's 5 minutes on the T or 20 minutes on foot to Harvard Square.'Tria' refers to the three sisters who run this place, and it's clear that they have made a valiant effort to create someplace special. At check in, guests are invited to choose from a selection of scented soaps with which to lather up. The complimentary breakfast features waffles which you can make yourself. The hotel also offers a free shuttle to Harvard Square and other local destinations (otherwise, there are a few decent restaurants within walking distance).

The delightful, 175-acre Mt Auburn Cemetery was developed in 1831 as the first 'garden cemetery' in the US. Maps pinpoint rare botanical specimens and notable burial plots, including those for Mary Baker Eddy, Isabella Stewart Gardner and Henry W Longfellow. Bus No 71 from Harvard Square station runs past the cemetery.
