Like so many Angelenos, this hotel is not to be ignored. A cylindrical tower, rising above Sunset Boulevard and the 405 freeway near UCLA and the Getty Centre, the Angeleno has brought some chic to the classy but otherwise rather sleepy Brentwood neighborhood.

The Angeleno's 208 compact rooms are hued in chocolate and vanilla, and their exterior wall subtly echoes the gentle curvature of the building. Feather duvets, iPod nanos, 30" plasma TVs and complimentary wi-fi are nice extras. Balcony views of the 405 Fwy right below are soooo LA surreal, though if you're sensitive to noise you'll want to request a room away from the freeway (and even then might plan on ear plugs). The entire hotel is nonsmoking. West, the penthouse restaurant-bar, is a romantic spot to unwind as the city twinkles below you.
