Accessed through its lush, fountain-graced courtyard and set back off Collins, this lovely European-style hotel features a warm, intimate lobby and 17 rooms with oversized marble bathtubs, big firm beds and full entertainment systems. No, it's not too good to be true.

Enter through a wrought-iron gate, along a stone tiled walkway, where a fountain muffles street noise into a villa-like sanctum where pampering is their pleasure. Yup, that's the Impala. This place excels in creating a private hideaway feel. The friendly staff have managed to create atmospheric elegance without arrogance, and attend to every detail imaginable. Luxurious hotel amenities (including fancy bed linens) and sophisticated service are expertly combined with the intimacy of a bed-and-breakfast without the problem of overbearing hosts. The bathrooms are a welcome change from most Deco hotels - they're actually roomy here. All in all, the package of decor, attitude, service and price knows few equals in South Beach. Rates include a continental breakfast, 24-hour concierge services and wireless internet access.
