Behind the bright yellow façade, this 20-room place feels a bit jerry-rigged and the halls could use some sprucing up, but the set-up is quite functional and each room is fairly large and comes with a fridge. Guests get a free beer at the downstairs bar.

Exceptionally convenient if you'll be arriving or leaving by bus or share taxi, the Freedom is right in the middle of Sihanoukville's city centre. The air-con rooms are spacious, with windows that let in plenty of light, shiny ceramic floors, in-the-wall closets and even bathtubs. The cheaper rooms have seen better days - some of the walls are a bit blotchy - but they don't feel at all cramped and electric heaters ensure a constant supply of hot water for the shower. The breezy bar next to the reception desk, with three pool tables, is a hopping place to hang out in the evening. Locker-like safes for valuables are available at reception. The restaurant serves hearty Western breakfasts and plenty of other cuisines are available nearby. Going on-line is easy thanks to the cybercafé next door.
