Address: On fort near jain temple , Jaisalmer 345001, India
This beautiful 450-year-old haveli was once inhabited by the prime minister under the maharaja. It wasn't such a bad deal - the gorgeous archways, alluring alcoves, sizable rooms opening onto small balconies and rich ambience must have been grand back in the old days.Difficult to imagine how the ol' PM fared in the style department, though. Nowadays, this family-run haveli is a treat for the eyes. The five double rooms here are all unique and extremely attractive, with sitting cushions on the floor and bright curtains in traditional prints. Relics such as a Ganesh statue, sun plaque and flower vases are smartly placed. After a recent renovation, all rooms have private bathrooms. The two-tier rooftop does not have chairs or, unlike so many other guesthouses in Jaisalmer, a restaurant. Still, it's a fine lookout point, and nothing's stopping you from bringing up a blanket and cushion and a fat book. Ideally placed to take advantage of the lively village atmosphere within the fort walls, this is a tranquil hotel offering historic ambience without sacrificing creature comforts.

Jaisalmer Fort may seem like a dizzying maze at first, but you'll soon get your bearings. Move slowly, take in the sights and sounds, and definitely don't forget to eat. The momos (stuffed dumplings) at Little Tibet are delectable, and the pastas and pizzas at Little Italy are quite decent, too.
The low doorways here ensure you bow, in respect, upon entering a room.
