This self-proclaimed hotel de caractère, with 43 elegant rooms, is owned and operated by a charming father-son team who always seem to be at hand to welcome and serve.

The hotel might seem a bit out of the action at the very bottom of the 5e. But the refined rooms, the almost 'clubby' public areas in warm tones of red and orange and the wraparound balconies of the corner rooms make it worth going the extra distance. Famed for those extra touches, the hotel has put iPods in it its suites and installed a modern red fireplace in the lobby that actually works. Colour schemes in the rooms vary - from silvery blue and gray to beige and tan. All doubles contain a queen-size bed while there suites have king-size ones.
