Under new (and enthusiastic) management, this 44-room hotel is a pleasant and reasonably priced place to stay hard by the Sorbonne, and within easy reach of the bars and clubs of the Latin Quarter.

Furnishings in the smallish rooms of the 'Three Colleges' are simple - white with splashes of pastel - but modern, and some rooms share a WC. But we love the half-price express breakfast and, in particular, room No 63 with its beamed ceiling and - count 'em - three sun-splashed windows. The welcome is especially warm here and the staff helpful; ask for the hotel's easy-to-use bus guide and list of recommended local restaurants. Some rooms look onto the street and others onto a quiet courtyard, but all are nonsmoking.
