While some might find it comically incongruous to see the sculpture Man Contemplating Infinity staring from the Plaza Necaxa straight at the grey Hotel Bristol, the lodging rises above the mundane (while making no attempt to approach the infinite) through a combination of cordial service, well-illuminated rooms and great location.Built in time for Mexico to host the 1970 World Cup (and some affable bellhops have been laboring here since then), the Bristol stands in the pleasant, central Cuauhtémoc neighborhood. It is primarily a business hotel, and guests should expect to rub shoulders with an array of lower-echelon salarymen from throughout the Republic. They'll be checking their email in the small business center, flipping through the newspaper in the lobby lounge or having lunch with clients at the above-average Restaurant Río Diecisiete. The hotel's 'L' shape means you'll either be gazing back at the Man Contemplating Infinity or looking westward at the low-rise blocks of Colonia Cuauhtémoc. In either case, rooms get plenty of light, as the building lacks the typical shaft-facing units. These are business-class digs but more than comfortable with quality carpet, good beds and a soothing color scheme.
