Strategically located amid the narrow streets that run between the Duomo and the Palazzo Vecchio, this pleasant, centrally located guesthouse is one of Florence's top budget options.Stand back from the main entrance and you'll see the medieval tower that serves as the core of this ancient building sprouting out of its classical Renaissance facade. Rooms, all of which have ceiling fans, are simple but shiny clean, and the English proprietor is as helpful as she is efficient. She keeps a television and VCR in the living room as well as a free self-service coffee machine. If you're lucky you'll get one of the rooms that face a small but leafy garden in the back. Light sleepers should have earplugs on hand, especially if they've assigned you one of the rooms that face the street. This is a lovely but also densely populated part of town, so noise levels grow quite high.
