Though isolated from downtown, this congenial guesthouse faces LaFontaine Park, and is just a 15-minute walk from the main bus station. Rooms are nothing special, but they are clean, cheap and incredibly popular.

In the dorm rooms, linens are included in the price and everyone shares communal bathrooms, a large kitchen and sitting area. There are also private rooms, smartly decorated in raspberry, cream and forest green hues, and furnished studios. It's also possible to rent two-bedroom apartments. A complimentary continental breakfast is served on the deck, where the notice boards are packed with useful tourist information and announcements for upcoming events. Nathalie and brother Carl have enjoyed so much success with Le Gîte du Parc LaFontaine, that they've opened a second location at Hôtel de Ville and Sherbrooke. The attractive bars and colourful clubs of St Denis are a short walk west.
