Lonely Planet review

Close enough to the Annex and the University of Toronto to walk, yet far enough away to be insulated from the Bloor St racket, this bed & breakfast is next to the Spadina subway station. You won't have to venture far to reach the Annex's wealth of restaurants and thriving fringe theatre scene. The house itself boasts an old-world feel, with a smattering of antiques and a slightly tawdry decor. Most guests take advantage of the great pub next door, which sprawls three townhouses and provides the comfort of 3 kitchens, 5 patios and 12 bars where you can play darts, pool, or catch a sports game on a giant screen. If you're not part of the crowd closing the pub, street-facing rooms can be a little annoying around 01:00 when the street fills up with raucous revellers. All rooms are spacious and have a bathroom, air-con, satellite TV and Internet access; a few have fireplaces or balconies too. A simple Continental breakfast of bagels, croissants and cereals is served until 09:30(10:30on the weekend). Guests are entitled to complimentary pool privileges in the VIP billiards room next door.
