Caserón Porteño is about tango and family-style digs. It definitely qualifies as tranquilo (mellow). In fact, except for the daytime clamor from the primary school next door, it qualifies as super tranquilo. It occupies a converted house and has 10 rooms, a large leafy backyard and a dance studio.

The owners are tango lovers and can turn your itchy feet in the right direction, both on the dance floor (tango lessons are free with your stay) and around town (they know all the best places to go). The breakfast is hearty and healthy, and there's a fully equipped guest kitchen. The place is ideal for those seeking a place to shack up for at least a couple weeks, do their own cooking and study tango. The cheapest rooms are the 'superiors', which are just as comfortable as the 'suites' but their bathrooms are outside the room; they're not shared baths, they're just across the usually empty living room area (robes and slippers are provided). Its one drawback is its distance from the centre. But it is walking distance from Palermo Hollywood, Palermo Viejo and Las Cañitas, all of which are loaded with restaurants and bars.
