Just around the corner from the main entrance to Trinity College, this popular three-star option is a favourite with those looking for comfort and convenience rather than class and style. Like its sister hotel, the Grafton Capital, it offers a tidy room, a solid breakfast and friendly service. Ah, the fundamentals.

It's not like it's not trying to assert a style, but the mish mash of influences in the large lobby - huge funky purple couches beneath Art Deco chandeliers and beside a neo-Georgian stone fireplace - suggests that it's trying just a little too hard and failing on all counts. The aesthetic confusion ends there, though, and the rooms are solidly contemporary; smallish in size but decorated with nice pine furniture and decent bathrooms. The four oval shaped mini-suites are quite mini indeed, but they do feature double showers and a large Jacuzzi. Although the hotel is right next to the local fire station, they have a deal whereby the fire engines won't sound their sirens until they've hit the road, ensuring that you won't be untimely ripped from sleep by the blare of a 03:00 horn. Central and very convenient, it's a decent bed to sleep in, nothing more.
