Hotel Raffaello occupies a rather grand neoclassical apartment block just round the corner from the IP Pavlova metro station, with 29 smart doubles and five suites. It's on a very busy main road, but leave the noisy traffic behind and inside it's a haven of calm.

The Raffaello is a discreet and attractive modern hotel around 10min south of Wenceslas Sq. It's a three-star place with sunny and stylish rooms which would command a much higher price if it were any closer to the city centre, but even as it is, you're only one metro station away from the bright lights of tourist-central Prague. Security and privacy are bywords here - you'll have to ring the doorbell to gain admittance - and rooms are furnished with an understated contemporary elegance, including lots of dark wood and quality fabrics in neutral tones. There are no complaints with the bathrooms either, with their light tiles and modern showers. If you're after a bit more space, the suites come in two varieties, either with a terrace, or in a 'duplex' style, with a second level. Both have spacious lounges and kitchenettes with dining areas.
