With its defiantly pink façade, you can hardly fail to spot the Da Vinci, a stylish modern hotel opened in summer 2005. It's a friendly place, and thankfully the pink is forgotten inside, where black and white is the design choice. The surroundings are bland, but you're still quite close to the city centre.

The Hotel Da Vinci could easily pass for a top-end establishment; you'd certainly be paying top-end prices if this was in the Old Town. Inside, the lobby displays a mixture of the classic and the ultramodern, with prints of some of Leonardo's works decorating the walls, and lots of glass panels and leather sofas. After this enticing introduction, the rooms come as no disappointment. Black and white leather furnishings, deep red bedspreads and yet more reproductions of Da Vinci etchings evoke an atmosphere of contemporary elegance. The large bathrooms are equally attractive, and provide both showers and tubs. One possible downside is the rather grey, drab surrounds, but the metro station is just 2min away.
