The traffic-choked Gare du Midi area isn't exactly a tourist attraction, but if you need to be close to the station for travel reasons, this clean, reputable hotel just 250m (273 yd) from the station is definitely the pick of a not always salubrious crop.Security's excellent here, with a gleaming Fort Knox-style steel security gate (you'll need good biceps to yank it open), which can only be released by the watchful reception desk. All 35 rooms are modern, with gunmetal and pale-blue mosaic-tiled bathrooms and rich blue and yellow-toned furnishings. All rooms have private bathrooms. The petit singles are minuscule indeed but adequate for overnighting. The larger singles and doubles/twins have full separate bathrooms. The upper-level front rooms with views over a funnel web of train tracks are a trainspotter's dream. There's free wi-fi and three internet terminals.
