While the Ariston claims to be Milan's first ecological hotel, it's better viewed as a modern, comfortable three-star. It's well-situated, being an easy walk to both the city sights and the Navigli nightlife. While you won't notice the effort that went into making this Milan's first ecological hotel, it's nice to know that materials used in redeveloping the hotel are all non-toxic. Room sizes vary widely (singles are very cramped and are not a good long term stay option) but the rooms are very well-appointed and decorated in an inoffensively modern style. The bathrooms are immaculately clean and the hotel is very efficiently run, although the single (not so reliable) lift to the rooms can make for a long wait. While the claims of a biological breakfast don't extend much further than fresh fruit and purified water, it's still pretty decent, but make sure to ask for a 'real' coffee rather than drinking the 'American' stuff. The parking at the front of the hotel makes it very popular with visitors on a self-drive tour.

Via Torino shopping is at your doorstop, with its urban and clubbing clothes shops, small designer boutiques, and a few good little bars. FNAC, with its CDs, books and electronics is just down the road, with a pretty decent supermarket next door. Food-wise, local favourite, Cantina della Vetra, is a short walk away and nearby Luca's Bar is a great place from which to watch the passing parade.
The hotel has a free bicycle for guest use.
