Address: Piazza della repubblica 20 , Milan 20124, Italy Show on map
Behind the Westin's modern facade of red marble is an elegant hotel with some gorgeous suites. Its good facilities help overcome the not so convenient location of Piazza della Repubblica. While it's hard not to look longingly across Piazza della Repubblica at the majestic Hotel Principe di Savoia, this hotel does have a charm of its own - if you overlook the disconnect between the exterior and interior design: the somewhat fussy interior of the hotel is unexpected after taking in the Modernist appeal of the hotel's facade. The classic rooms of the hotel are the least fussy and most spacious of the accommodation. Westin hotels now feature their own signature beds and showers and while calling them 'Heavenly' is a bit of a stretch, the beds are excellent. The fitness facilities are first-rate, with the latest running machines, and there are Turkish baths for men and women. Wi-fi is everywhere, though it costs extra.

There'll be lots of taxis or trips to the Metro from here as, while most things of interest in Milan are no more than a couple of kilometres away, it is still inconvenient. Within walking distance, however, are the lovely Giardini Pubblici (public gardens), and in the other direction the Corso Como area with shopping and clubs.
