Lacking some of the finer details of the top-end places - namely carpet - this is still one of the classiest non-chain hotels in town. Standard rooms are OK, but the junior suites are the way to go: with more space, sunlight, a well-equipped kitchenette and awesome views of the city - hills and volcanoes beyond.
This pad occupies a stately yellow mansion near the top of Calle El Mirador. Volcán San Salvador rises sharply behind the hotel and is visible from the amoeba-shaped pool out the back. All rooms have air-con and flat screen TVs. Unfortunately they also share the same white tile floor as the lobby and corridors - for the price, you'd be justified to expect carpet.
