In a leafy corner of town, near a lively strip of bars and cafes, the Park is a low-key mid-size business-oriented hotel that's crying out for more of its rooms to be upgraded. On the plus side there's air-con (centralised); on the minus side there's a pervasive whiff of disinfectant.

If you want to stay set back from the city centre the Park offers a relatively laid-back, leafy location near a lively strip of bars and cafes. The singles are actually better value than most of the doubles, which tend to be rather poky. The rooms, while showing off smart black furniture, green carpets, phone, TV, desk and chair and green-tiled bathrooms, are let down by low-wattage lighting. The best rooms are on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors: they have new, larger beds, minibars, a brighter colour scheme of yellows and ochres and beechwood furniture. There's also an Internet cafe and garage parking.
