Address: Av de lisboa , Macau , North-east asia
This lavish, 3 billion casino and hotel complex will take your breath away. Gamblers will love the grandiose statement the towering folly, shaped like a flaming torch or a lotus flower, makes. Architectural and design purists will probably hate the throw-everything-including-Liberace's-kitchen-sink-at-it approach to the fit out.If you've got the money, you've got to consider the Grand Lisboa. Not fully opened when we visited so we can't comment yet on the service, it's clear all the same that this is a contender with the Wynn for top bragging rights in central Macau. The black-and-red rooms are massive, very well appointed and come bristling with technology including Bang & Olufsen HD TVs. The range of food outlets is huge, with some terrific fine dining options. The casino (which unusually offers Texas hold 'em and craps) is vast.

Some extraordinary objets d'art are on show in the public areas, including the 218-carat Star of Stanley Ho, the largest cushion-shaped internally flawless D-colour diamond in the world. The upscale dining spots are the perfect places to check out high rollers, local movers and shakers and Macanese ladies who lunch.
