The Landmark is one of Macau's new breed of hotels, offering a luxurious experience that falls somewhere between class and Vegas (and rarely the twain shall meet). It's big, with twin towers, 451 rooms and a cheesy Egyptian-themed casino.

The Landmark is not a bad option at the lower reaches of the high-end price range. It has obvious appeal to gamblers - just get in the lift and you're there - but will also appeal to those who want a bit of luxury in a fairly central location. The service is pretty good, if a little rushed, and the prices come down sharply midweek. The rooms are more tasteful than the 22-floor hotel's exterior might suggest. But they still have the sort of over-the-top touches you'd expect from a place that also houses the Pharaoh's Palace Casino. Lots of gold, plaster ceiling motifs and huge black-and-white chequered bathrooms.
