Comfort Inn's handy location just east of Sanlitun puts you within range of some great bars and cafes. For a Chinese midrange hotel in this area, things are suitably crisp and efficient, if unexciting. The Inn's name suggests an international proficiency, which the staff's English language skills cannot quite match; it also suggests a measure of blandness, and there are ample neutral tones. The front lobby is more like a car salesroom and the MC Escher-inspired design behind the lobby counter is derivative, but rooms are spacious and comfortable enough, if you are happy with a lack of oomph. Room rates are OK as well, but do fish for the lowest prices. In short, if you want a design-led hotel with imagination and flair that will knock your socks off, Comfort Inn won't be your cup of cha. But if you want a straightforward and relaxing midrange hotel right on the edge of the Sanlitun action, this place does the trick. The 7:00 to 10:00 Western breakfast is included in the price.
