The four-star Ramada offers tourists a supreme location on Shànghai's most famous shopping strip, right at the centre of town, although the overdone lobby, dripping with marble, is unsubtle and overpowering (but the impressive hidden inner atrium makes up for that).

The overwrought classical and rococo lobby pillars, furniture and statues are all too much, but thankfully less pomp and more subtlety can be found elsewhere, especially in the more casual and modern design of the upstairs restaurants and in the stained glass ceiling above. The comfortable rooms are modern and pleasant as you would expect for a four-star hotel in this part of town and considering all the competition, and service is satisfactory, if hardly superlative. Rooms come with 21-inch TVs, with wireless internet in superior rooms. The hotel has a Thai and Western restaurant, a China Eastern office, a large business centre off the lobby and the Club Ramada fills the upper floors; there's an indoor swimming pool on the 7th floor. Doubles are generally discounted by around 20%.
