Surprisingly cheery, large rooms, coupled with a location near the eating/drinking/shopping action, render this Best Western one of the better-value options in town. Free parking makes it a must for those with cars.

Think vertical motel. Though the hotel rises seven stories, it has a lot of the amenities you'd expect from a value motor inn. The decent-sized indoor pool here just comes with a sundeck overlooking the city instead of a parking lot fence. Free parking is unheard of in the city centre, as are free wi-fi and in-room coffee makers, but you have them here. Rooms are unusually large, too, with maple veneer beds and those standard synthetic comforters. All this would be great even if you had to commute in from the 'burbs, but just outside your door are the city's most famous restaurants, shopping and public transport. Don't think the masses haven't taken notice: rambunctious families often fill up all the rooms. Book early.
