This Days Inn provides a good-value alternative to downtown's more expensive lodgings. The prime location at the busy intersection of Clark, Diversey and Broadway Aves puts you within an easy amble of lakefront parks and beaches, yet you're still only a 15-minute bus or train ride to the city center.

Families love this place, and it ranks high on the Days Inn scale for well-kept rooms and good service. True, it's not much to look at, situated in an old retail building above one of the North Side's four-gazillion coffee bars, with average-sized rooms and bland furnishings. But the amenities add zing, including continental breakfast served in a bright room amenable to newspaper reading; a free pass to the Bally's Health Club next door, which has an indoor track, lap pool, sauna and whirlpool; free wi-fi throughout the building and a lobby internet terminal. As long as architectural character isn't your main motivator when choosing accommodation (if it is, you might want to look into the nearby Willows Hotel), the Days Inn should gratify given its top-notch location and decent prices.
