Lonely Planet review

This sexy, sleek hotel (designed by Carlos Zapata) bills itself as the nexus of cutting-edge design and Deco, where the role models are Vincent Gallo and Martha Graham and the best minibar items are condoms and Red Bull. That's about right.

The vibe is cool at the pool, too, even though it's not huge and lacks poolside services of any kind. There's a small but adequate weight room just off it. If you don't expect too much, you'll be happy enough here, especially for the price. As for the guestrooms, they feature white bedding, grey carpeting, blonde-wood furnishings and stainless-steel accoutrements. The longer you stay, though, the more it can seem a bit worn and sparse, true of more than a few Deco places. Walls are also typically thin here, so bring ear plugs or plan to enjoy your neighbor's company. It's not the kind of place you want to hole up in for three days non-stop, but it is a blast for a couple of nights, especially the bar.
