This building has so many exterior Deco fins that it would steer quite handily if ever called to duty as an ocean liner. It oozes Deco, right down to the coral-hued rooms, and it's only a block away from sugary sands.
South Beach pulsates all around, and all around the clock. Fortunately these 58 rooms and 18 suites are outfitted with sound-dampening panes that still open if you want to feel the sea breezes. The hotel and its furnishings, recently restored, nicely balance the artsy fun of Deco with quieter mahogany desks and entertainment units (though cleanliness has been a tad uneven of late). Marble bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs are spacious. Rooms come equipped with dial-up Internet access, cable TV, fluffy robes, refrigerator and wet bar. Staff will give you the low-down on the South Beach scene; play your cards right and they may even flip you a VIP pass to a hyper-exclusive club. The outdoor veranda is a particularly pleasant place to people-watch, while the splash pool and garden make decent hang-out spots before you dive into South Beach frolicking.
