If there is a feng shui to Art Deco, the sleek, sultry Beacon Hotel just might be the place to find it. Retro-mod decor and furnishings gives the 1930s-era building's Deco architecture an historical spin that'll have you feeling right at home in over-the-top sunglasses.

An understated air prevails here. It might seem on the spare side for those accustomed to effusive opulence, though there are whimsical dabs of it throughout the hotel. The Beacon may not provide all the answers to life's conundrums - like, where do you lay your big ole suitcase when you want to unpack - but they do attend to the feel of the place. The 79 rooms can be small (and bathrooms on the tight side, particularly those overlooking the courtyard), but you'll probably be beaching by day and clubbing by night, so a cosy bathrobe (check), comfortable bed (check) and cable TV and high-speed/wireless Internet (check, check/check) make this a nice find. Request a room with an ocean view.
