Lonely Planet review

Very much at the low-end of the mid-range category, this reasonably pleasant hotel, with fake greenery cascading off its windows, has been making some efforts to renovate after a decade of service, and remains a well-run and friendly place to stay. Ask for promotional rates or book online. There's a touch of elegance at Garden City Hotel: chandeliers are low enough to touch and comfy wicker chairs crowd the ground floor café, which was being upgraded when we visited. Although clean and comfortable, some of the hotel's 101 rooms are slightly smudgy around the walls, and the TV/radio consoles are not exactly state of the art (they're more Soviet State). Many rooms look onto trees lining the busy street and there's a rooftop garden (to which it's planned to add a café) with a view of the KL skyline, so it isn't Garden City by name only.
