If you're going to emblazon the words 'Imperial Palace' atop a hotel, you'd better deliver because expectations run high. This place comes up with the goods. From the magnificent lobby to the well-appointed rooms to the kick-ass fitness centre, opulence runs throughout this fine establishment. There's so much to do at this attractive hotel, it's hard to imagine why guests would go off-site in their free time. Unlike some top-end hotels in this city, great care was taken to select a coordinated mix of materials, patterns and designs. Tasteful decisions are especially evident on the 3rd floor where the hallway is convered in flagstone, a fitting material that complements the ondol-style rooms equipped with two-person hot tubs. Less expensive rooms are attractive though hardly spacious, which shouldn't be a problem as guests could easily while away the hours in the top-notch bathhouse - the black stone hot and cold tubs and two saunas are a must try - and fitness centre. Not without its faults (like window views overlooking the adjacent building's green roof), the Imperial Palace is one of the nicest hotels in the city.
