Tucked away in a winding ally off Ð Pham Ngu Lao in the heart of the budget travellers area, Thuan Duc was opened in early 2005 and offers simple-but-great-value rooms.Rooms are larger than you'd expect for the money, though not all of them have a window. The tiled floors in the bedroom and bathroom are spotlessly clean. The pick are those at the front, which apart from being bigger, have a one-person balcony looking out onto life below and a horizon of tiled roof tops. With only eight rooms the whole experience is pretty relaxed and the families who run Thuan Duc fit this pretty well - they're easy going and nothing is too much hassle. On the downside, some rooms have no window and you'll need to climb the stairs to whichever one you take, but it's only a few floors so stop your whining - it'll be good for you. Of course, you still get the standard hot water, Western toilet and cable TV.
