This excellent-value 34-room midrange hotel, a short distance west of place de la Madeleine, attracts with the bold colours of its carpets and furnishings and modern art in the lobby.

Prices at the Alison depend whether the room has a bath or shower, and on the outlook. Double No 37, for example, looks on to rue Surène while room No 31 overlooks a quiet and leafy patio. The hotel - small, family-run, almost boutique - is excellent situated for both sightseeing (the Jeu de Paume, Orangerie and Grand and Petit Palais are just a hop, skip and a jump to the south) and shopping at the grands magasins (department stores) of the blvd Haussmann. Check out the mustard-yellow leather settee in the lobby-lounge and the colour-coordinated carpet.
