The 'Globe Hotel' is an eclectic caravanserai with small but completely renovated rooms. It is located just south of the throbbing blvd St-Germain and within easy walking distance of the Latin Quarter.

This 17th-century property with 14 rooms is an attractive, atmospheric choice but does have its drawbacks. Some of the rooms are verging on the miniscule, so much so that one French guide advises: 'Come alone, don't be a giant and if a couple do not be afraid of la promiscuité' (which actually just means 'crowding' in French). There is no lift (but four floors to ascend via a very narrow staircase). Still, we're suckers for armour (there are at least two full sets here), exposed beams in the bathroom and canopy beds (Room 43 has one). The mock 18th-century fabric wallpaper of children playing games is interesting.
