These dazzling digs occupy two separate buildings, one of them a graceful late-19th-century modernista pile. The pentagonal foyer in the latter is magnificent, the beds are king-size and the baths are big enough for a work out. If you stand on your tippy-toes you can see La Pedrera from the rooftop terrace.Rooms are outstanding for the price. In fact, there must be few other hotels in a major European city where you can get such quality for this price. Generous in scope, they are bedecked with thoughtfully chosen furnishings. The rooms across the road in the less captivating annex are nonetheless equally good. What makes this place stand out, however, is the way they have adapted one of Barcelona's finer modernista apartment buildings, fusing modern comfort with old-world character. Grand staircases, elegant archways and quiet alcoves dominate the public spaces, but modern amenities such as wi-fi access and a well-equipped rooftop gym ensure thoroughly contemporary comfort. The rooftop swimming pool is small but the views are good.
