Everything about this place exudes harmony, from the soothing tones and soundproof rooms to the designer bathroom fittings (the towel heaters are a highlight). Meanwhile, the staff is friendly and keen to look after your every need. Each room is spacious and loaded with the latest technology, from high-tech TVs to free wi-fi access throughout the hotel (even at the rooftop swimming pool). The pool terrace itself is one of Barcelona's best, offering a reasonably sized pool, terrific views out over the city towards the Mediterranean and Montjuïc, and ample tables and sun lounges to while away an afternoon or evening. All in all it's difficult to believe that this place only has three stars - the designer flourishes and luxurious rooms make you never want to leave. It's a touch of class without the price that usually accompanies such luxury.

It's hard to imagine a better location for a hotel. Go northeast for shopping and modernista monuments in L'Eixample, or duck into the labyrinth of El Raval to the south.
