Address: Borgo pinti 27 , Florence 50121, Italy Show on map
This remarkable hotel consists of two parts: a lavish Renaissance palazzo and a modern wing that, while rather characterless, is ranged around one of the loveliest gardens in the city. It's not cheap by any means, but it is also one of the most remarkable options in this price range. As soon as you enter the hotel, look up: the beamed ceiling is elaborately painted. Next to the reception desk is a carved stone staircase that curves elegantly to the second floor, while further on you'll find a charming warren of rooms decked out with antiques that range from rustic to refined. Finally you reach the garden, the real coup de grace. Its gravel paths are lined with jasmine and roses, olive and lime trees. Here you will find the contemporary wing, which has decent rooms, though it feels more like a California recreation of Tuscany than the real thing. By contrast, rooms in the palazzo, while smaller, are heavy with the weight of the Old World, with silk wall hangings, gilded mirrors and flouncy bedding.
