Few hotels in Rome boast a better location than this hugely popular three-star, opposite the Pantheon. Rooms are attractive, if small, and staff are friendly. The one big problem, though, is noise - double glazing will keep some of it out but a silent night is unlikely.

To wake up and look out of your room window at the Pantheon is a unique experience. And that's what you're paying for (heavily) at the Abruzzi - that and the fact that you're within walking distance of just about everything - were the hotel to offer no more than a roof and a camp bed it would still be popular. As it is, it has 80 rooms spread over five floors. They're not the biggest in town but they're pretty enough with parquet floors, cherry wood furnishings and extras such as satellite TV, air-con and heated towel racks. There's no internet, however, and the hotel has no public rooms - breakfast is served in a nearby cafe. Two rooms have facilities for people with disabilities, although you'll have to make it up to the first floor where the lift starts.
