With all the amenities of your typical business-minded Hilton, this unique location is on the top two floors of the Bonaventure business centre. With half the rooms overlooking the city and half peering over beautiful rooftop gardens, it's impossible to get anything less than a nice view.Even if you don't make it to Le Bar Soleil near the pool, do admire the 2.5-acres of lush foliage, duck ponds (with real ducks!) and patios from the lobby windows. Another plus is the outdoor pool, heated to allow for a dip in the worst of snowstorms. Rooms are not large but are comfortable with on-command video movies, large working areas, mahogany furniture and marbled bathrooms. The restaurant, Le Castillon, serves exquisite French cuisine with a pricy table d'hôte dinner menu. Lunch by the garden is a more casual affair with Hilton burgers (12.00) and hummus wraps (11.00) on offer - especially gratifying on warm summer days. X-files fans will want to ask about the famous UFO sighting here a few years back.

A few blocks east along Rue St Antoine Ouest is the renowned Toqué!, arguably Montreal's favourite eatery. The seven-course taster menu (84.00) is a dining experience not easily forgotten, especially by the wallet, but you can order à la carte if you're on a tighter budget. The wine list is constantly growing and the award-winning chef can make anything work, even scallops with strawberry mousse.
