The best way to beat the noise of night-time revellers on St Denis, is to join them. Popular with Quartier Latin-based tourists, the standard yet spacious hotel rooms here are attractive with Ikea-style furniture, comfy beds and air-con.

The Berri UQAM area is notoriously seedy at night, but relatively safe if you keep your wits about you. With St Denis's sidewalk cafes and specialty boutiques literally at your front door, the position of this hotel reigns supreme, which explains its popularity. Double rooms range from small and functional to oversized, with two queen-size beds. All have sparsely decorated walls and large TVs and desks. Whirlpools are tiled right into the living rooms of the large suites, but are too small for more than one person to enjoy. The on-site restaurant is fairly nondescript, but casual dishes are reasonably priced and quite tasty. It's a pleasant place to enjoy your complimentary breakfast too.
