This 19th-century Victorian inn looks just like a pint-sized replica of Casa Loma. The winding red turrets and facade impress by day, and look almost spooky at night when all the lights are on. Each of the 23 nonsmoking rooms has a TV, air-con and private bathroom.

Take in the wonderful wall murals and decorative columns and arches in the lobby as you enter this spectacular house. Old-fashioned woodwork and fireplaces grace some rooms, but all are equipped with modern amenities such as microwaves, fridges and coffee makers. You only have to shout and a helpful staff member will produce an iron and ironing board, or guide you towards laundry facilities for guest use. Budget rooms are located in the basement, while more luxurious accommodations are situated in the turrets and on the main floor. No breakfast is served, but you are free to prepare something in your own room. The house is nestled in the hip Annex neighbourhood, within striking distance of Queens Park and the University of Toronto campus.
