If you're with a large group and looking for style, comfort and few frills in Palermo Viejo, this is possibly your best choice. There's a good variety of rooms for all types, and the rooftop terrace is an awesome place to gather. There aren't many large hotels in this neighborhood, but the Costa Rica - it has 30 rooms, which makes it huge for Palermo Viejo - manages to retain a sense of intimacy. Walk through the front door and you're instantly inside a slick living-room-style lobby, with a nearby cozy bar as an added plus. Just beyond is a small patio-hallway, lit up at night with romantic candles. The rooms themselves are small, plain and comfortable, with a few slick contemporary touches like raised sinks. Some of the buildings' original details, like tall doors, thankfully remain. Tiled hallways are narrow and motel-like at times, but there's a wonderfully open and spacious rooftop patio for sunny lounging. To save a few pesos, go for the cheaper rooms with shared bathrooms. French is spoken (the owner is a Frenchman) and breakfast costs extra.
