Another one of Ipanema's elegant high-rise hotels, the Everest Rio features nicely decorated rooms ranging from small to spacious, along with professional service and an enviable location. Although none of the rooms has sea-facing views, many have balconies, and the 90-second walk to the beach ensures a steady stream of patrons.

The Everest Rio won't dazzle you with opulence: the marble-floored lobby with oriental carpets and sparse furnishings is an understated affair. Much the same can be said for the rooms, which have plain carpeting, simple artwork above the beds, large windows and modern bathrooms - all with bathtubs. Some rooms have a splash more color than others. Deluxe here means more space (the view is the same), with a queen-size bed. Breakfast is included in the price, and guests can enjoy the beach service (umbrella and chair rental plus security) available just around the corner. The top-floor restaurant serves grilled delights to fabulous views, and a sushi restaurant adjoins the lobby on the ground floor.
