It's named after a Doors album, but there's no hint of '70s slacker cool about this place, one of the city's trendiest hotels and a safe bet for a little celebrity-spotting. The loosely Oriental style rooms are bright, if a little compact and feature Egyptian cotton linen, CD players and ISDN lines.Ireland's most famous cloth-cutter, Hong Kong-Irish fashion designer John Rocha, was given a virtual free hand in the design. What he came up with was New York minimalist chic - plenty of straight lines, dark wood, lots of white leather and pieces of Rocha's own line of crystal, designed in tandem with the world-famous factory in Waterford. The hotel recently upped the ante in the Hip Hotel stakes with the addition of 48 bedrooms in the adjoining former print works and the addition throughout of Apple Mac plasma screens, iPod docking stations and Aveda goodies. It's a huge improvement on what had become a worryingly frayed sleep, but we're still perplexed why a luxury hotel pitched at celebs and rock stars should have such a conservative attitude toward serving residents booze past 01:00?
